I have decided to start a translation blog. I have recently taken an interest in Arcana Famiglia. Seeing as I couldn't find any English translations a lot of stuff, I did it myself. I am taking Japanese in school right now, but I am only in the first level class. So, they were made with a combination of Google Translate, general knowledge of sentence structure, and logical reasoning. Since I don't speak Japanese fluently and used Google Translate for some parts, the translation might be off in some places. I would appreciate it if anyone could correct me on any possible errors. If anyone is interested in that there is a link to that blog below. I will also continue to make AMVs when I feel motivated to do so.
So, you have all probably noticed that I haven't posted anything in a while. This is because I can't think of anything to write about. I haven't really been editing because school is keeping me very busy. I'm not sure if I will be able to edit at all any time soon, because all the upcoming breaks from school are to be spent with extended family out of town. I will not have access to any hard drives with episodes or any other editing material out of town. Therefore, I will be on hiatus until further notice, most likely until sometime after Christmas or New Years.
In other news, I am getting a drawing tablet very soon. This means that I will actually be able to draw properly, because it is very hard to draw with the mouse on Photoshop. I might actually upload stuff onto Deviantart. Yes, I do have an account on that, but there is nothing on it, so I didn't bother to link it.
Oh yeah, I have recently found out that my aunt has discovered my blog and has told some other extended relatives about it. That explains the sudden increase of views from Canada. So, hi there, eh!
I just added a box that lists my AMV progress. I'll update the box as soon as progress is made. The box should be to the left. The first time number is how much video has been made so far. The second number is how long the video is going to be. I figure that this is the best way to keep track of progress. Keep in mind that some parts of a video will be more complex than other parts, so there might be 5 seconds of progress or 25 seconds of progress. It all depends on the video. Once a video is done, I'll take it off the list and make a post detailing how I made it, my inspiration, or anything else I want to say about it. I won't add a new video to the list until I actually start making it.
This is my first AMV update post. Which is basically a list of some of the AMVs that are I am workinng on.
#1: The Last Time (1:08 out of 1:46)
I uploaded a preview of this last month. Sadly, there has been no progress since the preview. However, I only have to edit one more verse of the song, then it will be finished. I am considering adding text, but I kind of like the raw style it has, so I probably won't. The last verse has a completely different style to it. It will look a bit like Utopia (clips like photographs, track motion, lots of text) because the verse has a faster tempo to it.
#2: Utopia (0:18 out of 1:25)
A preview of this was also uploaded last month. Again, no progress. This is a little farther from being finished than "The Last Time" is. There are a couple verses before and after the section seen in the preview that need to be done. But, those sections should be easier since they will have a raw style instead of a whole bunch of track motion, like I had to do for the other parts.
(Previews for "The Last Time" and "Utopia")
#3: Stand My Ground (0:25 out of 4:27)
This is a completely new video that I started about Ash and Paul's rivalry. There are a couple of seconds at the beginning of the song that transition from being slow to fast which drive me absolutely crazy because I can't figure out how to time the editing correctly. I've tried a couple different orders for the clips, but it still doesn't look right. Anyway, the first 25 seconds of music that are slow are more or less finished.
This -----------------------------^ is what the slow part currently looks like. I used an effect to make it look grainy with those moving vertical white line things you sometimes see in old film. I don't think it shows up in the picture, but there is also a flickery blue light effect. This video is mostly from Ash's point of view, since I think the lyrics match his mindset better that Paul's. After the transition part, there is going to be a "battle montage" to some fast, awesome, instrumentals. This would include everything except the Lake Aquity and Sinnoh League battles. Those two battles each get their own verse. It's also going to have some Chimchar stuff in it. I am using the whole song.
#4: Aquarius (Not started)
It's going to be an Ikarishipping video. Very glitchy effects with a darker feel, and angsty and ASFGHJK... okay, I'm done.
Now, let's move on to the non-Pokemon portion.
#5: Angels (Not started)
This is a Buffy/Angel video. (are they still called AMVs if it's not an anime?) Although, the "sparkling angel" line in the song sort of gave me a bad mental image. (no, I didn't read/watch Twilight, I just read some stuff hating on it) Anyways, despite that line, I think the song fits so I'm still going to make it, and try to ignore that line.
#6: Uprising (Not started)
This is a Deltora Quest video. Basically a montage of them getting all the gems and overthrowing the Shadow Lord. The problem with this is that I can't find good quality, wide screen, raw versions of episodes 47 and up. The closest I could get had a time stamp in the corner, but I guess I can work with it.
Well, I think that's all for now. I'll try to finish these as soon as I can. Also, I realize that all of those except "Uprising" use Within Temptation songs. You probably think that they are my favorite band, and you're right. I realize that I should probably find some new music to edit to. The new school year just started for me so expect very few, if any new videos or progress. I know, I have a hard time finishing videos. But, I have to put school first.
Since it's been a while since the last post. (You have experienced my procrastination) I think it's time for a new one. If this is your second (third?...fourth? etc.) time here, thank you, I now have reoccurring readers. Anyways, as promised, this post will be introducing my friends. Yes, I know them from real life. Some I've known for two years, some for ten years. But, no matter how long I've been aware of their existence, they are equally precious to me.
They are in order of earliest met to newest met. If I got it wrong, I apologize. My memory might be a little bit faulty. The random pictures are because I felt that there should be pictures on this blog. The names used are nicknames and not their real names.
Fiddler: My best friend back in kindergarten. She plays violin. I must admit that we started to grow apart for a while, but now we are friends again. She really wants to own a katana sword. Also a fan of many video games.
The Ginge: Another person that I have known since kindergarten. She is a viola player. There are many times when she acts hyper and/or crazy. I'm not quite sure if the reader knows what a "brain to mouth filter" is, but we believe that it is not functional on her as she usually has some interesting comments to express. But, for the record, she is still a very good friend to have.
Marmalade/Evie: Call her "Mango", "Mansprite", "Fresco", and possibly "Blondie Bear" and you will regret it. I can explain the origins of those names if I am asked. She does the ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and maybe hip-hop varieties of dance. She is also an aspiring writer and is working on many books.
Carousel: An aspiring actress. She and Marmalade have performed in several local plays. She plays cello and string bass. In the future, she wants to live in Europe. The fact that I went on a vacation to Italy this summer has made her pretty jealous.
Duck: The other anime fan in our group. She and her sister make Pokemon and other anime related plushies. They are currently working on a set of the Eeveelutions (Eevee included). She enjoys personality typing people.
Destiny: Being one of my newest friends, I do not know her that well yet. However, I have heard that she can punch people. I should consider asking her to teach me some fighting techniques...
Well, I have finally decided to start a blog. I am SolarWindStorm151 on YouTube, Solar for short. Obviously, that is not my real name. (shocker!) I have slight Internet identity paranoia so I must use a screen name. Anyways, I have a feeling that the only people who will read this would be my friends or anyone who finds it from my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/SolarWindStorm151. But in any case, welcome to the blog!
As the title of the blog states, I am an AMV(Anime Music Video) editor. I mostly use Pokemon, but am branching out into other shows. Eventually I plan on making Buffy the Vampire Slayer videos, but I am having conversion problems with the episodes. As for other anime, I have watched Deltora Quest (read the books too), Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji (really awesome), Death Note (geniuses rule!), and Romeo x Juliet (better than the original play in my opinion). I mainly like supernatural/magic and action/fighting type shows that have an interesting plot. If anyone has any suggestions for an anime I should watch, you're welcome to comment with a suggestion at anytime. My main shipping for Pokemon at the moment is Ikarishipping/ShinHika, which is Dawn/Hikari and Paul/Shinji.
This blog is mainly for me to rant about my editing. I hope that doing so will motivate me to finish more videos. At the moment it is about one video per year, and that is just for Rissychan's Ikarishipping MEP(Multi Editor Project). I actually do have a lot of ideas, I just have procrastination problems. At times I might reference to my friends. One of which is "The Ginge" who also has a blog: http://757daycountdown.blogspot.com/. She is pretty funny and makes drawings using Paint (the program). I suggest checking out her blog. I am also referred to as "Solar" on her blog. I will make another post introducing all of my friends later.
Now for some things about me. In a school setting, you would describe me as the over-achieving Asian girl. If you were one of my friends, you would describe me as a ninja assassin. That probably does not compute to most people, but that is me. As the first description suggests, I have high standards in regards to my educational performance. As for the second description, lets just say I have a habit of watching violent movies in which things in general, blow up. Once, my friends put me in front of "Ever After", which is basically Cinderella. For the whole movie, I yelled at characters to punch other characters....yeah, you had to be there. I am also into archery and sword fighting. Actually, I can shoot a bow but I don't know how to use a sword (yet). But not to worry, I am actually a nice person. My drawing skills are not terrible and have a sort of anime/manga style, but I am better at drawing horses and objects than anything else, I occasionally try to improve, but it really isn't going anywhere. I am generally quiet/shy and prefer to sit in front of my computer instead of going out. In the future, I plan on having a job doing special effects or editing for movies.
Since I can't think of anything else to write and this is turning into an essay, I'm going to leave it here. If you did find this from my YouTube channel, you can see this as my AMV "progress report". The first "progress report" post should be up after the post introducing my friends. I also made the background of this blog myself using Photoshop. It may or may not be sized right, so if it looks funny on your screen, I apologize. So, with that note, see you next time!
